ZSÓFIA ÖTVÖS

The line between humor and pity is thin. It is the humor, and at times the ridiculous, that inspires and surfaces in my work. In my art I tell short stories informed by strong waves of emotions. In the composition I use melodramatic tools of movement and stillness, gestures and attitudes. The characters do not shy from grotesque and satirical exaggerations, and they can also be presented at an elevated state in celebration of the individual.

The surface of my works carries my artist-presence of creation. When painting I embrace the physical quality of the paint. In my drawings the hard pencil marks attract the viewers to step closer to see the detail, thus breaking the limit of personal space and symbolically exposing my intimate self.

LIDOSKA GUIETTI

Lidoska is returning to showing after a decade long of quiet work in her studio. Her vibrant oil paintings include archetypal imagery and personal symbolism, evoking her Italian upbringing. Lidoska aims to achieve expertly executed surfaces that can transfer the spectator to a moment of reflection, where new cues inexpertly and constantly emerge allowing the viewer to experience their own mental journey.

MELISSA KOLBUSZ

Melissa founder of WIRED jewelry, designs handmade, wearable artwork from reclaimed and surplus materials. Marrying aesthetics and environment, by she salvages components such as rubber, alternator wire, tubing and craft beer cans. CNN highlighted her jewelry for a story on recycled jewelry, and NPR affiliate WBEZ has featured Kolbusz on-air. WIRED has also graced the covers of Caviar Magazine, Time Out Chicago and has been featured in the books Green Design, Recycle
